Dichloromethane (DCM) Test for Assessing PVC Pipe Fusion Degree

The DCM test (EN580) uses dichloromethane solvent to detect un-fused powder on the chamfered pipe surface. Loose powder indicates insufficient fusion or gelation.

Fusion Quality Indicator

The DCM test is more stringent than the ASTM acetone test, requiring a narrow processing window for optimal gelation without entrapped air, critical for pipe integrity.
